History

Little People’s Place opened its doors in April 1974 with an enrollment of only six children. Our first classroom was set up in the family room in Melrose, Maryland. After 8 years, we moved to Westminster, Maryland where we rented the Maryland Jaycee building. In 1995, we moved next door to our very own school building located at 604 Johahn Drive, Westminster, Maryland 21158.

After being in business for over 30 years, we now have an enrollment of over 300 students per year in preschool, full time childcare and before and after school care programs.

Little People’s Place has since returned to the Maryland Jaycee building. We are truly proud that Little People’s Place is a complete campus that can offer the families of Carroll County a devoted and continuously improving environment for children ages 14 months-10 years old.

As of October 2005, Little People’s Place is licensed through the Maryland State Department of Education as a private preschool program.

As of June 2013, Little People’s Place became active participants in the Maryland EXCELS program. Little People’s Place has a published level 5 rating rating in EXCELS.

In July 2018, Little People’s Place completed the MSDE Accreditation program.

We are currently maintaining our center participation in all MSDE programs.
